New!
IAYT will present the Symposium on Yoga Research, October 1-3, 2010 at the Himalayan Institute headquarters near Honesdale, Pennsylvania.  This will be the first comprehensive and widely publicized academic research meeting in the U.S. devoted to Yoga therapy research.

In brief, this will be a single track academic research meeting centered on 12 invited oral presentations from researchers who are actively engaged in Yoga research.  We anticipate an attendance from 60-100 researchers and others interested in learning about Yoga research.  The conference will provide ample opportunities for much interaction via poster presentations, social opportunities and the nature of the location itself.

The Himalayan Institute headquarters is a residential Yoga retreat and training center with a history of scientific research through the experiments conducted on Swami Rama decades ago, and is very supportive of having the meeting on their site.  There is an active integrative medicine clinic on campus, with Yoga, Ayurveda and other complementary disciplines well incorporated. This particular venue should thus substantially contribute to the attractiveness of this conference.

This is an economical, beautiful, relaxing and inspiring location, especially at this time of the year, so we encourage you to consider coming early or staying on afterwards, perhaps even to take advantage of the Total Wellness Center or the personal Yoga retreat opportunities available.

As more information develops, watch for an announcement sent to members and on this website in January, 2010.

Are You Interested in a Special Session on Yoga Research 101?:
We will have a special, 3-hour pre-conference session tentatively entitled "Yoga Research 101 for Yoga Therapists."  This will be a unique opportunity to learn the basics of Yoga research from several of the leading researchers in the field.  This, coupled with the conference as a whole, will thus provide an extraordinary forum to learn about Yoga research and even to discuss possible future research projects of your own with many professional researchers.

If this special pre-conference session is of interest to you, please let us know by signing up here.
